Education and Sustainable Development have an intrinsic, interdependent relationship with each other, largely because no sustainable society can operate without efficient and high quality education. Literate societies have the capacity for transmitting information to new generations as well as making better decisions based on previous experiences to anticipate potential risks and, consequently, design strategies for efficient solutions.
The development of a sustainable vision that incorporates multidisciplinary and multicultural values requires, in practice, a democratic, collaborative format of governance inspired in authentic co-management, strategic thinking, co-management and collaborative alliances based on Low Carbon Infrastructure and local protection to natural capital, environmental services, livelihoods, well-being of ecosystems and communities.
